Environment: The scourge of sargassum in the Caribbean

A threat to the economy, invasive and harmful to the inhabitants of the Caribbean, sargassum produces hydrogen sulphide, a toxic gas which is detrimental to human health. While this seaweed is hazardous on land, it is quite the opposite at sea. The grounding of sargassum is currently being studied by scientists from the Monaco Explorations project, as part of a joint exercise with local areas. The aim is to find a way to prevent this from happening, or to collect the sargassum before it comes to shore.
