Stamp to go on sale for the bicentenary of the Palace Guards

Monaco’s Stamp Issuing Office will release the following stamp for sale on 10 March 2017:

0,85€ – BICENTENARY OF THE PALACE GUARDS

The Palace Guards was established on 8 December 1817 by the Prince de Valentinois, Honoré Grimaldi, Hereditary Prince of Monaco and Administrator of the Principality, in the name of his father, Prince Honoré IV. In 1904, Prince Albert I, satisfied with the policing and guard duties carried out by the "carabiniers", entrusted them with the security of the Palace and Royal Family. The Ordinance specified that "the service provided by the Company of Guards shall henceforth be provided by the Palace Guards". The unit was given the name "Compagnie des Carabiniers du Prince".

This issue will be on sale at the "Office des Timbres" 23 av. Albert II (Fontvieille shopping center 3rd floor pharmacy side), the "Musée des Timbres et des Monnaies", the post offices and philatelic counters of the Principality, the Monaco stamp-dealers as well as the "Musée de la Poste" and the "Carré d’Encre" in Paris, France. They will be included, with other values, in the 1st Part of the philatelic programme 2017 and offered to our subscribers and customers.
