Promoting study at top-flight universities: reform of the mechanism for allocating higher education study grants to young Monegasques
As part of the policy of excellence being pursued by H.S.H. Prince Albert II and by the Prince’s Government in the field of education, the mechanism for allocating study grants has been supplemented in order to enable young Monegasque students undertaking higher education degree courses delivered by top-flight universities to benefit from more assistance with tuition fees.
A list of top-flight higher education establishments has been drawn up on the basis of three of the best known international rankings: the Academic Ranking of World Universities (Shanghai Ranking), the QS World University Rankings and the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
This list of 62 international universities was officially set out in Ministerial Decree No. 2017-258, dated 21 April 2017. The associated regulatory framework was established by Ministerial Decree No. 2017-257, also dated 21 April 2017.
On this basis and for these establishments, the State will henceforth determine the amount of grant to be awarded based on the actual tuition fees, with contributions varying between 25% and 100% of fees, depending on the income and size of the applicant’s household.
REMINDER: Applications for study grants should be sent to the Department of Education, Youth and Sport by 31 July 2017. No applications will be accepted after this date.
