Senegal: Support for programme to combat child trafficking
As part of efforts to combat child trafficking in Senegal, the country’s government has launched an extensive programme aimed at getting children off the streets. Monaco’s Department of International Cooperation is supporting this initiative and is working in the country alongside the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). Since the Empire des Enfants centre for street children, supported by the UNODC, was opened, more than 2,500 vulnerable children have been taken in. The partnership between Monaco’s Official Development Assistance authorities and the UNODC, first established in 2011 in Senegal, has been extended to cover the period 2018-2020.
