On 22 and 23 June, the Place du Palais will host the 2nd Meeting of Historical Sites of the Grimaldis of Monaco. This year, the Pays de Matignon, the Duchy of Valentinois, the Italian commune of Dolceacqua and the French commune of Roquebrune Cap Martin will all be in the spotlight.
These ancient “fiefdoms” will present the history that links them to the Principality and the Grimaldi dynasty, as well as their cultural and craft heritage.
During the afternoons, there will be activities for children and adults alike, including gouren (a style of folk wrestling from Brittany), theatre, a game of “pignata”, a colouring workshop, a treasure hunt and the Game of the Goose board game.
This second meeting will also feature dancing, folklore and cultural performances, as well as a variety of workshops, from traditional clog-making to wood and olive wood sculpture, cooking barbagiuans, and much more besides.
In addition, many culinary specialities from the ancient “fiefdoms” will be available to taste and to buy.
There will also be a grand “sound and light” show projected onto the walls of the Prince’s Palace at 10 pm on Saturday 22 June.
An hour-by-hour schedule of all the events can be found on the Monaco Inter Expo website:
