This morning, the Minister of State, surrounded by Jean Castellini, Minister of Finance and Economy, Albert Croesi, Lead Manager for the Minister of State on the Apolline issue, and Robert Colle, Secretary-General of the Government, discussed the Government’s policy on housing during a breakfast event with the press.

Regarding the Jardins d’Apolline, the Minister of State said: “the extra height which H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince requested is feasible. Forty-five apartments will be delivered at the same time that the renovation work is completed, with no impact on the announced timetable and the legal proceedings which are underway.”

He continued: “Furthermore, the Government is considering a project, Testimonio 3, which would involve adding a new programme as an extension to Testimonio 2. This is something else that the Sovereign Prince has advocated.”

Jean Castellini explained that “in addition to major projects, the Government is working on interim solutions based on smaller scale initiatives, and on developing mobility (in particular through exchanges). Our policy also resulted in the delivery of 552 new apartments between 2013 and 2018, an average of 110 per year. These efforts will be continued over the period 2018–2021 with the delivery of 451 new homes.”

Summing up, the Minister of State reiterated that the Government’s aim was to meet the housing needs of Monegasques in full over the coming years, while ensuring the sustainability of the existing social model, a model which is evolving as a result of demographic growth, among other things.
