The Board of Auditors Presents the 2020 Annual Public Report to H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince
On 16 July 2021, the Chairperson, Mr. Jean-Pierre Gastinel, and the Vice-Chair of the Board of Auditors, Mr. Christian Descheemaeker, presented the 2020 Annual Public Report to H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince. The report was approved by the Principality of Monaco's Supreme Audit Institution (SAI) on 5 July 2021,
This report, which is available on the website of the Prince's Government, sets out the activities of the Board of Auditors during the past year, in application of the Sovereign Order of 2 July 2008.
The year 2020, which was marked by the COVID-19 pandemic, was unique in many respects for the work of the Board of Auditors, insofar as the carrying out of numerous audits had to be rescheduled.
Thus, during the year 2020, although the Board of Auditors naturally completed the examination of the State's accounts and management in 2019, it was unable to complete other audits, such as that of the Monaco Scientific Centre and the audit relating to the methods of instruction, decision and follow-up of subsidies granted by the Monegasque State, through the example of the Cultural Sector. These will be set out, however, in next year's Annual Public Report.
Of course, relations with foreign SAIs and the Associations that bring them together were continued in 2020, in particular with the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI).
This meeting of the Board of Auditors was also notable for the appointment of a new member, Mr. Olivier Ortiz, as a replacement for Mr. Bertrand Schwerer, who had been a member since 2014 and had made it known that he no longer wished to sit on the Board. This appointment was formalised by Sovereign Order No. 8.250 of 11 September 2020.Rapport public Commission Supérieure des Comptes 2020.pdf (682.72 kB)
