As part of the Extended Monaco programme led by the Digital Transition Office, the Prince’s Government is moving forward with its digital transformation by introducing a new way of distributing payslips to its 4,000 civil servants and employees. From now on, each of them will have access to a personal digital space to which their payslip will be posted each month. This electronic payslip will have the same probative value as a paper version.
Paper payslips require nearly 48,000 sheets of paper and envelopes every year, amounting to 0.5 tonnes of paper, and so the Monegasque Government is seeking to accelerate its environmental policy by considerably reducing its paper consumption, as well as to offer easier, secure access to payslips.
How do electronic payslips work?
At the end of each month, the Government will post the payslip to a personal digital space, which can be accessed from a smartphone, computer or tablet and from where civil servants and government employees will be able to view or download their payslip.
“Electronic payslips are an easy, time-saving solution for all civil servants and government staff. This system reduces the possibility that documents will be lost, and enables remote access and retention for 60 years, even if people leave the civil service,” emphasised Frédéric Genta, Country Chief Digital Officer.
“The public service hopes to set an example for businesses based in Monaco which, thanks to the launch of electronic signatures and stamps a few days ago, will now also be able to switch to electronic payslips for their employees,” said Sophie Vatrican, Director of Budget and Treasury.
