On Monday 4 March 2019, H.E. Ms Carole Lanteri, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Principality of Monaco to the Office of the United Nations in Geneva, spoke at two meetings held as part of the 40th Session of the UN Human Rights Council.
H.E. Ms Lanteri first took part in an interactive dialogue on human rights obligations relating to the enjoyment of a safe, clean and sustainable environment. The Ambassador welcomed the work of the UN Special Rapporteur, who presented a report on the right to breathe clean air, and reiterated the importance attached by the Principality to environmental protection and improving air quality.
In the afternoon, H.E. Ms Lanteri participated in the annual debate on the rights of the child. The theme this year was empowering children with disabilities through inclusive education. She set out the main measures in place in the Principality to help ensure comprehensive care for children with disabilities, including through educational support tailored to meet individual needs. “This support extends beyond children’s time at school, assisting young adults with disabilities to enter the employment market,” she emphasised.
